First off, the artwork has nothing to do with any political statement; I just thought it would make a killer cover.

That being said, this album was influenced by [adult swim]'s bump music; which I guess you could say is influenced by Flying Lotus, since he does most of their tunes. I wanted this to sound like a fictional soundtrack to a cartoon; so, I feel that it is a lot of fun to listen to.

FYI: D&G Green Punch is quite possibly the best soda I have ever tasted, unfortunately you can only get it in the Netherlands.

There must be something in the air, because I have been going crazy in the laboratory lately. I have finished 3 more collections since my last free album offering and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. These albums are the first things I've created in the new decade of my life.

This album feels a little more playful and eclectic with some killer beats and some psychedelic ambient passages. I had gone back into my old sample folder and pulled out some sounds I hadn't used since I first got started making music a few years ago. The cover is one of Banksy's graffiti art pieces which influenced the mood of the album. Without further ado, the Electric Simulacrum presents:

Last week, after I finally released all my albums that I had been sitting on, I took a break... for like three days.

After that I started messing around the sound lab and now I have a new album for you. When I started Road Division, it was an outlet that came about very spontaneously and rather quickly. This collection, like the previous Road Division album, represents a shift of perspective. Svapna-sthāna is the dream state in which these tracks thrive. This album touches upon dubstep and electro, creating the most (dare I say) danceable album I've ever assembled; consider this the capstone to my 20's.

You are now up to date on all recordings by Matthew Brian Gray and his Plastic Dub Arkestra.

I know it is a lot to digest all at once, but pace yourself. Spend a little time in the strange aural worlds I've created, tell your friends. If you dig it, let me know; if you don't... at least it didn't cost you any money to find out you don't like it (that is more than I can say about a lot of things). For those of you that want the short version of the discography, pick up Haarlem or Musique Acousmatique. I urge you to check it all out, but those are the albums I'm most proud of.

It has been a long strange trip and I feel like I am always sharpening the razor; cutting deep into the groove. My apologies for the hoarding of tracks. Next month I turn 30, so this was somewhat of an exercise in cleaning the slate. I'll continue to bring you new music whenever it comes available; but there are no current projects in the works (I just finished Musique last night); but you never know what the future may hold.

The trend here at the Electric Simulacrum seems to be a slow trickle of new material here and there on a less than sporadic basis. But, I have said before that silence does not equate a lack of creation.

Currently I am finalizing a full album and possibly an [EP]; assembling a remix project and cultivating an ambient collection. These projects are all far and away more psychedelic and vastly superior to anything else I have brought to you in the past.

As the Summer season ebbs, yet the heat lingers; new things are afoot here at the Electric Simulacrum.

My old laptop became terminal and with it's last gasp, coughed out the track previously posted as a tribute to the fallen King of Pop.

I was jazzed about the track however I couldn't shake the feeling that it needed something more. Several weeks went by and my mind never stopped obsessing over how to make Moonwalker better, as I did not get enough time to nurture the beat and cultivate its potential.

Finally, I knuckled up and purchased a new laptop. First thing I did was whip that bastard song into shape, resulting in Moonwalker (silent). Unknowingly, I found a new vein to mine and several new tracks sprang forth with the greatest of ease.

I had planned on taking a break after the long process of creating ( ))) and Rated G, but these songs came along so fast and before I knew it a new collection had materialized.

Sorry for the long delay between posts, I have been busy enjoying my time with my girls and have not blogged in quite some time.

But, the lack of posting does not equate to not being busy.

I have been working on a new collection, which is I believe is getting close to being finished. Initially, I wanted create a 4 or 5 song collection; but every time I think I'm finished I end up crating new tracks. It's current state is a 7 songs and it may be complete. I think it is the most accomplished collection I have crafted and I can't wait to put it out there for someone else to enjoy.

Overview of things to come

Greetings!

I am currently in the process of cleaning up the tunes I've made and putting them into two digestible uploads. After this I'll be posting the collections as they develop.

Originally I had fashioned my tracks into small collections (possibly considered EP's?). There are five collections that represent my foray into electronic music. I see them as each having their own personality; however my two new compilations serve to mold all of my songs into a showcase for you all to enjoy without having to download a bunch of mini-albums.

You cannot see the present if you don't understand the past.

So, for the sake of continuity I'll line out how the old collections were fleshed out, as well as the artwork.

Distort Reality:

This album represents my first steps at composing. I was really excited about crafting my own songs; consequently, these tracts were fleshed out in one day... my first day. Later, when I learned how to better manipulate the software, I went back and remastered these tracks.

These tracks show (hopefully) my progression on the learning curve.

I started experimenting with different styles and dabbling with recording my guitars and on "Sun Drips Frozen" my own vocals (to date it is the only one).

Aphasiac:

It was on this collection that I was finally comfortable with what I was doing. I had been listening to a lot of ambient music and I wanted to try my hand at crafting songs in the same vein. Ultimately my ADHD kicks in and my tolerence for long passages of evolving static drops out and my songs seem to hardly resemble anything that could be labeled "ambient". However I believe that the trilogy of "Kármán Line", "Eridanus" and "La Ville-Lumiere" best display this ambient influence. The bookend jams on the album do not have this quality... these are bangers.

Stereoscopic Waves:

Becoming frustrated in my complacentcy of relying solely on what I had become comfortable with, I started pushing myself again to try different things. I took "Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die" which I named after a Hunter S. Thompson quote because of a perceived Gonzo influence, and added an excerpt of one of the "Good Doctor's" lectures. During this period, Sarah bought me the Lexicon Alpha recording interface, and I started being able to better record my guitars.

This is the most recent collection I have crafted. I have my first attempt at a remix on it: the Beastie Boys "Hold It Now Hit It" . Plus, I sampled our new President on "Why Can't I Just Eat My Waffle Motherfucker?" The name of the collection comes from the address of The Grey Area in Amsterdam.

Well, I've decided to make the jump into blogging. Seems I've fought the inevitable for too long... so here I am.

Big things are in store for this digital fortress: first, I'll make available, for the first time publicly, my musical creations in their intended collections (no more sub-par Myspace tracks).

Downloadable mixes of tracks that influence my daily life are on the horizon as well.

Pictures, artwork, random outbursts and observations are sure to ensue.
